Refresh immerread.com once with the extension installed. The auth handshake runs on page load. After the refresh, click the extension icon to confirm the signed-in state.
Make sure your system audio is not muted, then click the speaker icon once. First play on a new word takes a beat while the audio generates; later plays are instant. If autoplay was on and you want to disable it, open the extension popup and toggle "Autoplay pronunciation".
Chrome only registers extension shortcuts on a clean install, not soft reloads. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts, find ImmerRead Lookup, and rebind the shortcut there. Pick any combo that is not already taken.
